Hello,
I'm starting to get into super 8 and I have a camera but I need to get a projector and a viewer. I've read a couple of other posts about the best projectors and seen the Elmo models come up. Those are out of my price range for the time being. I'm looking to spend maybe $150 on a projector at the most. I actually have one now but it feels very cheap. What i'd really like is a projector that i can feel comfortable that it will be good to my film. Basically I want a quality projector. If there is nothing like this at this price range, then I'd prefer to wait and get something good.
I see a couple of brands on ebay that look like they may be good: the Bolex 18-5, Canon PS-1000, and Canon S400. Does anyone have any opinions on these particular projectors. Are they good quality?
I also need a viewer to look at the film in editing. I see the Elmo 912 on ebay. Is this a decent viewer?
Thanks,
Jack

Jack, there's a thread down below somewhere from a few days ago that discusses Elmo and Goko viewers. I've got one of each, purchased from eBay.
An alternative to Elmo projectors are those made by Eumig. I've never owned one, but I'm told some of their models are quite good.
Good luck!

I have a Vernon viewer that I used to edit my first cut (on film) of my feature Lost Tribes.
It worked great, never broke down, never scratched my film.
